LATERAL APPROACH OF POPLITEAL BLOCK VERSUS UNILATERAL SPINAL ANESTHESIA FOR BELOW KNEE SURGERIES: A COMPARATIVE STUDY
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aims and Objectives: The aims of the study were to compare efficacy side effects popliteal block unilateral spinal anesthesia in patients undergoing below knee surgeries. Methods: This was a comparative comprising Sixty divided into two groups depending on whether surgery done under (Group SA) or PB). parameters compared between studied included hemodynamic changes, onset motor block, duration analgesia, pain, amount rescue analgesia required. Side such as bradycardia, hypotension, cardiac arrhythmia, urinary retention groups. SSPS 22.0 used for statistical analysis p<0.05 taken statistically significant. Results: There 14 (46.67%) males 16 (53.33%) females, whereas, Group PB, there 13 (43.33%) 17 (56.67%) females. Mean age SA found be 42.93±16.79 39.57±14.05 PB. mean gender distribution ASA grades both comparable with no significant difference. sensory well significantly less PB difference highly (p<0.001). showed better analgesic profile SA. requirement first 24 h more Adverse (p>0.05). Conclusion: Popliteal provides stability and, hence, can considered preferred mode lower limb surgeries.v

Combination of Sacral Spinal Anesthesia and Popliteal Fossa Block on Surgical Side for Below Knee Surgery
Background: The beneficial effects of two central neuraxial blocks in combined form are well acceptable and well tolerable by patients. Beneficial effects of both components are utilized, minimizing their drawbacks. Aims: Our study is designed to evaluate the use of peripheral ( popliteal fossa block ) and central nerve block (spinal) in combined form for below knee surgical procedures. Methods...
متن کاملA Comparative Evaluation of General Anesthesia versus Spinal Anesthesia Combined with Paravertebral Block for Renal Surgeries: A Randomized Prospective Study
Background: General anesthesia with endotracheal intubation has remained the most common technique used for open renal surgeries because of the abnormal body position and its ability to control the diaphragmatic movement during the surgery. Combined spinal and thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) can be used as alternative technique for open renal surgery, where spinal anesthesia provides fast a...
متن کاملComparison of Hemodynamic Changes in Unilateral Spinal Anesthesia Versus Epidural Anesthesia Below the T10 Sensory Level in Unilateral Surgeries: a Double-Blind Randomized Clinical Trial
BACKGROUND Unilateral spinal anesthesia is used to limit the spread of block. The aim of the present study was to compare hemodynamic changes and complications in unilateral spinal anesthesia and epidural anesthesia below the T10 sensory level in unilateral surgeries. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this double-blind randomized clinical trial in total 120 patients were randomly divided into a unilat...
متن کاملAdductor Canal Block for Knee Surgeries: An Emerging Analgesic Technique
In recent years, adductor canal block (ACB) has been introduced as an alternative for femoral nerve block with a great advantage of preserving or minimally reducing quadriceps strength. The technique is relatively easy and is performed under ultrasound guidance. Despite growing evidence regarding efficacy and safety of ACB following knee surgery, use of ACB is still limited to high volume ortho...
متن کاملPopliteal sciatic nerve block versus spinal anesthesia in hallux valgus surgery
BACKGROUND We compared clinical properties and patient satisfaction between spinal anesthesia and popliteal sciatic nerve block (PSNB) for hallux valgus surgery. METHODS Forty patients undergoing hallux valgus surgery were divided into spinal group (spinal anesthesia with 2.5 ml of 0.5% bupivacaine [n = 20]) and PSNB group (PSNB with 30 ml of 0.75% ropivacaine mixed with 10 ml of normal salin...
